A Practical Guide to Tiered Storage Archiving using Oracle ILM

Since many organizations already store vast quantities of data in their databases, they make an ideal platform for implementing ILM. This session will show via a demo of Oracle's ILM Assistant, how to perform tiered storage archiving. We will first see how to classify data, describe data lifecycles, and then how to optimize the placement of data so that the maximum quantity of data can be stored for the lowest possible cost. When it is time to move the data in accordance with the lifecycle, we will see how tiered storage archiving can be performed quickly and efficiently. Implementing an ILM solution is not a trivial task, see how using Oracle's ILM Assistant, you can project your cost savings, and model your proposed solution prior to implementation.
